First posted March 4, 2021 For additional information, contact: Director, New England Water Science CenterU.S. Geological Survey10 Bearfoot RoadNorthborough, MA 01532 The U.S. Survey assists the Federal Emergency Management Agency in its mission to identify flood hazards and zones for risk premiums communities nationwide, by creating insurance rate maps through updating hydraulic models that use river geometry data. data collected consist of elevations channels, banks, structures, such as bridges, dams, weirs can affect flow. To account model complexity structure hydraulics fidelity between channel geometry, two distinct standards collecting are presented, both using global navigation satellite system real-time network surveying. This method is adapted from manuals foundational surveying maps.
